About Us
We are a small family run business nestled in the picturesque valley called “The Branch” located between Karuah and Girvan. It is our aim to provide a natural healing environment where horses with severe or chronic lameness can be rehabilitated using barefoot trimming methods to get them sound and functioning as nature intended.
We have a holistic approach to rehabilitation therefore while horses are in our care their owner may also be referred to an equine nutritionist, dentist, massage therapist, etc. to ensure the best possible outcome for their horse.
Raymond started learning about barefoot trimming in 2004 as an owner trimmer to maintain our 5 horses hooves. He continued his training through Equethy Workshops and then with the Barefoot Blacksmith - Andrew Bowe.
In 2009 Raymond started his own trimming business “Bare Hooves on the Move”. He began his studies for an Equine Podio-therapy Diploma with the inaugural class at the National College of Traditional Medicine in Victoria, successfully completing his Diploma in 2012.
During his training in Victoria at the equine learning and rehabilitation facilities, Raymond realised there was a need for something similar here in the Hunter area. Hence the dream to create Eaden Equine Wellness Centre began. In 2013, after years of searching we finally found the right property at The Branch and Eaden Equine Wellness Centre started to become a reality.
Rae has always been drawn to horses from a young age and to assist with Raymond’s barefoot trimming rehabilitation she completed her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2014. Rae has nursed injured horses with stitched and open chest wounds, eye injuries and tooth extractions back to health. Assisting with veterinarian treatment, cleaning and bandaging wounds and administering medications.
We are always looking to improve our skills and it was part of the dream to have Eaden Equine Wellness Centre be a place where horse lovers could come and learn with us how to improve the wellbeing of their equine friends. To do this we regularly host workshops conducted by qualified equine professionals on subjects such as Equine First aid, Massage and Saddle fit, Natural Horsemanship and owner trimming.
